P. HARRIS
Now we have the Bio of our Open Show Judge PAT HARRIS (Konakakela)
Dogs have always been an integral part of my life, and in the 1980’s I became the proud owner
of both English and Irish Setters. The setter breeds, to me, represent the finest combination of
beauty and good nature.
My first English Setter came into my life in early 1987, Quensha Fantasy Of Dreams a lovely
sweet natured Tri, Bred by Angela Morgan. She had a litter in 1991 sired by Sh.Ch
Bournehouse Dancing Partner of Yeo and produced a lovely family of eight which included
Sh.Ch. Konakakela Steel Blue, owned and campaigned by Anne and Bill Needs.
After a break from showing for a while, in February 2012 I purchased a dog puppy from Anne
Montell, George (Culverwell First Footer into Konakakela). Then in December 2014 Jack
(Culverwell Front Page Story 1CC, 1RCC), joined our little family. I am currently showing Chase
(Bridgella’s First Edition to Konakakela JW, SH,CEx, OSW – 4RCC) bred by Mr. & Mrs.
Bridgwater.
I have bred / owned show champions in both English and Irish Setters, and have awarded CC’s
in Irish Setters since 2006. I have recently passed the A3 Assessment for English Setters, and I
am looking forward to my first CC appointment in 2027.
Over the past 25 yearsI I have served on breed club committee’s and am currently Secretary of
the South Of Englan Irish Setter Club, and on a general open show committee as Show
Secretary.
My ideal in both breeds is a dog which conforms closely to the breed standard, when both
standing and on the move, and which displays the kindly and friendly temperament for which
setters are renowned.
I am very grateful to the club for their kind invitation to judge this show, and am very much
looking forward to the appointment.

I first starting showing in 2007 with an American Cocker Spaniel when I was 10. In the past 18 years I’ve not only owned American Cocker Spaniels but English Springer Spaniels, Labs and a curly which was my first champion. I have also handled various breeds throughout several groups. I’ve had some success throughout my showing time, handling various dogs to tickets and titles. I have personally made up 1 champion in Curly Coated Retrievers. I first judged in 2016 at Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland open show. Since then I have progressed in my judging career sitting on level 2/3 for numerous breeds in the Gundog Group. In past the 10 years I have been volunteering for the Young Kennel Club at various events around the UK, SKC and YKC camp and Crufts etc. In recent years, I have had amazing opportunities to be part of the main arena team at crufts for running key events. Looking forward to judging at the English Setter show.
